I found this on our BOE's website... DH and I work in the same district. Maybe you have something similar? I'm excited- 2 more weeks off for me than I thought!
VIII. ADDITONAL RIGHT OF SPOUSAL DONATION
In addition to the other provisions of this policy, an employee of the local board of education may donate up to ten 10 days of sick leave days to his or her spouse if such spouse is also an employee of the local board of education for purposes of maternity leave, illness, illness of a family member or death of a family member. This separate provision is described by O.C.G.A. ? 20-2-850 (c) (4) and is in addition to the other provisions of this policy and not in lieu thereof.
Re: Teachers (again)
By the time the baby comes, he'll have 6 weeks saved up, and I'll have 8. I was planning to take 6 weeks and save the other days for appts or if the baby is sick. DH was planning to take 2 weeks. So if he gives me 2 weeks, he'll still have 2 weeks left.
Life of mrsjanks
My school district has something like that but it includes immediate family members, so not just spouse. My mom works in the same district as me and gave me several days when I had DD and said she will give me a bunch this time too (since I only have 2 weeks this year and 1 day left over from last year). Between her days and mine, I hope to get 4 weeks paid, plus an additionall one for Spring Break. Then hopefully my short term disability will help cover the rest of the time off.
Yay! Our baby is due March 6th, and I'm hoping the little one doesn't decide to come too early so that I can just skip the rest of the school year. I'm glad that spring break and easter break won't count against me, so it will buy me another week and half. This is my the start of my 7th year, and I've rarely taken days over the years. Really hoping my sick leave takes me through and I can make it without having to go back until August of 2011. Can't beat a 5 1/2 mo maternity leave!
Isn't it great to be a teacher due in the Spring?! My worst fear was getting pregnant and missing the first 3 months of school. That's a rough one to go back into after someone else started them off.
