Pregnant after a Loss

diaper bags

What diaper bag are you getting?

There are so many out there and don't really find anything I LOVE, well that is in my budget anyways.

I do like a few of the OiOi bags, but worry the giraffe print might go out of style?  I think I prefer a messenger bag b/c its easier to carry, but like the look of a tote or hobo bag...

I would love to hear what you guys are thinking of, and what features are a must!  (I would prefer the diaper pad, etc on the back away from everything else)

Re: diaper bags

  • We registered for a red, messinger-style Columbia diaper bag. It doesn't sceam "diaper bag", so DH said he would feel fine carrying it around.

  • This is my debacle!  We got a Skip Hop backpack for me and DH.  It's practical- clips on stroller and neutral.
But- I want one for me- so I have been hemming and hawning over the PPB bags- but I also like some of the Storksaks.  I would rather have a tote- it's just more my style since I already have a practical one.

  • I just got the PPB boxy back pack for $87 on Rue la la.
  • I love my Petunia Picklebottom bag that my dh surprised me with at my baby shower with my 1st dd. I have the backpack one that I highly recommend getting a backpack one because when you have to carry your purse, diaper bag and baby seat it is wonderful to go on your back!
  • I have a Petunia Pickle Bottom (scored it at a garage sale brand new for $8.00).  I love that I can use it as a backpack OR as a messenger style because the straps are detachable and adjustable in length (that's the main thing I'm picky about when it comes to my diaper bags and I've had 4).

I had one of the OiOi messenger bags and it was really bulky because of the canvasy fabric and the strap wasn't adjustable and even if I didn't have a lot of stuff in it, it still took up so much space.  I like the PPB is squishy.

I also like the Vera Bradley bags.  I had their regular diaper bag when I had DD, but stopped using it when I had DS because I needed a backpack then so I could have two hands.  Their large backpack is great, too - plenty of space, outside pockets for bottles, etc.

FWIW, you can find some pretty good high-end bags on eBay if you check every week or so.  Usually when my kids get to be around 10 months old, I stop carrying a diaper bag and just use my regular (big) purse and throw in a sippy cup and keep diapers in the car.  But when they're small babies, you need more stuff, so that's not feasible.

I like some of the storksaks too.  Timi and Leslie also has some cute very non-diaper baggish ones.

Good point.  Can it be converted to a regular tote too?

  • I bought an all black Storksack.  I like it because it looks like a regular handbag and will match almost everything.  It was sort of expensive but not too crazy considering I will be using it as my purse for quite some time.  We got DH a Diaper Dude bag because there's no way we were going to be able to find a bag that both of us would use.
