Pregnant after IF

since it will be 3-4 weeks before my first OB check up...

How do you know what to do/expect until then?  We just found out yesterday we have 2 little sacs and I want to make sure I am doing EVERYTHING right from the start.  To give these babies the longest stay (in me) as possible!... I am under the care of my RE for 3-4 more weeks, and OB questions are not his specialty!  A month just seems so far off... Any advice is appreciated!

  • What types of questions do you have?  Is it something that you can call your OB's office and have the nurse answer?

  • I probably can call, I just want to know if there is anything extra we need to do for twins... like give me a specific diet plan for extra-extra calcium, or what should/shouldn't I be lifting.  Things that I might not worry about with a singleton.  And I am sure there are so many things I am not even thinking of!  I think I will call and see what they say too!

  • Maybe you can post on the "Multiples" board and see if they have any suggestions for you.

ETA: Oops!  You've already thought of that :)

it's the same as a singleton pregnancy in the first trimester. Take your folic acid supp in addition to a prenatal. Don't eat anything that you're not supposed to or start any strenuous exercise. I was told I have no extra needs calorically for the first 12 weeks. If you just look at normal pregnancy guidelines on americanpregnancy.org or whatever you'll be fine. It's not until the later weeks that you need to do things differently and really it depends on your doctor.

For example, my friend is KU with twins and she was told no exercise. My doctor is still letting me run. I think everyone has a different opinion.

Also, go on Amazon and get yourself a twin book which will help.

Your RE should be able to answer all of these questions.  REs are trained to monitor early pregnancies - if they weren't they wouldn't keep us as patients for so long.
