Success after IF

Adenomyosis

Has anyone dealt with this?  I have a friend who has this condition and is in the middle of her first IVF cycle.

I'm not going to be a ton of help, but it's worth mentioning that when I moved from my RE to my OB, I had to get a copy of my records from my RE to transfer over. Of course, I read through them. I noticed that in my reports they had noted some adenomyosis in my workups, but it was never mentioned to me and never was an issue for us.

So I'm not sure if it is easily overcome or if my case was just very mild. That said, I did have it and now I have the little guy in my siggy. :)

    Good luck to your friend!

  • my sister has it, resulted in a hysterectomy for her (But she was already 45 when she had it, and completed her family)

Basically, it is just like endo, but involves the entire abdominal cavity. It can be troublesome if mild, but very serious and painful, involving other organs if it is severe. My sister had growth all over her intestines, her liver and outside her uterus and ovaries.

Best of luck to your friend

This is not quite right. I have endo in my entire abdominal cavity, but I do NOT have adenomyosis.  Adenomyosis is specifically when the endometrial tissue grows into the uterine wall, as opposed to just lining it.

  • I have it. I was told by three different doctors prior to our IVF that surrogacy was our only option.  My RE treated me as an endo patient and had me do a 4 month course of BCP and femara (one 2.5mg pill a day everyday) prior to IVF. He also did an ultrasound guided transfer to stay away from my affected area (which he said isn't as bad as he's seen).  Good luck to your friend!
