Snowbaby Report

Embryology just called with an update. Yesterday they were watching 8 eggs. They said they could freeze on a day 5 or 6. As of today, they will only freeze two. Both are 3BB quality. I'm a little surprised since there were 8 yesterday and now we are down to two. I know that I'm lucky to get any frozen at all, but I was a little surprised. As they said, these are the "best of the best."

I thought of this yesterday. . . they retrieved 18 eggs. .  that's a year and half worth of ovulating and I never get those back. Kinda weird! So of 18, we have 2 in and 2 on ice. Such a numbers game!

  • Sorry it's not the report you were hoping for.  However, I don't think you're going to need your embies anytime soon since you're going to have you hands full with twins Smile

congrats on the snowbabies :) I agree...it's sort of shocking how few they end up freezing. We had a good group left and didnt end up with any (which was ok with us) Hopefully we both wont need them anytime soon anyway Smile

Thanks for commenting because I needed that reality check. Also, I think I just told someone the other day "Quality not Quantity" and then I forget it myself.

Yea, the two of us won't need 'em! LOL-

OH, and PP made me lol with the twin comment. Indifferent  hehehehehehe

Two is definitely good.  So many people don't have any to freeze.

I agree with the other ladies, though, you aren't going to need them!

  • Hi!

Just wanted to let you know that the same thing happened to us.  We had 13 embryos, transferred 2, and they were only able to freeze 2.  It's totally normal and just "natural selection" as my RE told us.  Nothing to be concerned over.

Glad everything is going so well!  Good luck!!

Lilypie Second Birthday tickers Congratulations to my girl AmberZ! So happy for you!
  • I am kind of surprised that they were only able to freeze two but I guess two are better than none!

  • I think freezing two is fantastic! My RE explained that the advantage of waiting until day 5 or 6 to freeze is that you really have the oportunity to see which ones are the strongest.  I think it is a good sign that your RE really observed your embabies and didn't just freeze the whole batch without watching them. It would be a waste to do a FET with a poor quality embryo. That said, hopefully you will not need to worry about that!
