Ok ladies so I have been having really bad back pain tonight.. I have been laying on my bed on my side for a while. Couple hours.

When I had DD 6 years ago I had all back labor- but can't exactly remember what contractions felt like.

Question is how do I know if I am just having back pain or if I were to be having contractions?

Sorry I am just now getting on!  First and foremost, you know your body.  When in doubt, call your doctor or go to L&D.  I find it so very tricky when they warn us that lower back pain can be a sign of preterm labor.  We're all going to have lower back pain from carrying around more than one baby.  For me, I considered isolated back pain likely to be musculoskeletal; back pain + abdominal cramps more likely to be preterm contractions/labor.  I really can't say for someone else's body though.

my back was still hurting this morning  but seems to be getting better. i have had no pain in my stomach or anything so maybe it's just bad back pain. It seems to hurt worse when I lay down on my side. Don't know what the deal is.

I do have my regular appointment tomorrow so I am going to try and just hold out until then.

Don't be afraid to call your doctor's office.  That's what they are there for!!!  They'd rather you call then sit at home if something is possibly not right.  You can never be too careful with any pregnancy....especially a multiples one.
