f/u to hard swollen spot after shots

I took DD to the pedi (her pedi is on vacation so we went to see the on call doctor) for the hard red lump that developed where she had her shot a week and a half ago. I am still not 100% sure of what the lump is from, the pedi wasn't 100% sure. She gave us a prescription for an ointment, an antibiotic, and suggested Benadryl. I am not really comfortable giving all those things at once and not really even know what I am treating. I think I am going to start with the ointment and Benadryl tonight and if it doesn't get better/gets worse by tomorrow night, I will start the antibiotic. Does anyone see a reason that this would be a bad idea? Should I just trust the pedi and give all 3?

    DD always gets a hard lump where the needle went in. It always goes away on its own.

    Seems weird to have such a variety of things. An antibiotic wouldn't do what Benadryl would do, I would hope a dr would have a little more knowledge of what do to.

    I would try the benadryl first, and start the antibiotic in the morning if there seems to be no improvement.

    just wondering what the ointment was?
    I replied in the last post that we had something similar going on and took him to the doctor just a few hours ago. Doctor told us that it shouldn't be a reaction from the vacs, since it's been so long (got vac'd july 2)... even though it is exactly at the site.
    anyways, it's getting worse and it's itchy and he's made it bleed and there is a bit of a hard lump now as well.
    we were prescribed a topical steroid, fucidin.

    Ours is a steroid too. It says the main ingredient is Desonide?

    DD's spot has a hard lump in the center also. While she was in her pool yesterday the outside area was bright red, but the lump turned almost white. Now this afternoon the whole area looks almost purple and red and the lump is dark or purple also.
