It is so hard knowing that they will eat when they are hungry

Jacob is usually a good eater and likes to drink his milk.  But the last week or so, he's had a diminished appetite.  He still eats and drinks, but not as well.

I offer him healthy things that I know he likes, so I know its not the food.  Its not effecting his sleep patterns and he still looks super healthy.

Sigh...being the mom of a toddler sure is frustrating sometimes!

  • I was just talking about this with a co-worker today.  Overall Garrison is a very good eater but she certainly has her meals when she is just not feeling it.  I was saying that I am very lucky that other than being slightly thin, she is pretty big for her age so that helps me be less stressed about it because while I KNOW it is completely normal for them to have meals, days, even weeks where they don't like certain things or aren't hungry, I would get anxiety over it.

  • I hear ya'!

Grant is doing better eating, but he eats carbs and bananas.  That's about it.  I'm trying to find proteins, other than milk, that he will eat. . . no luck, so far.  Fortunately, he drinks milk like its his job. . . but since he is on the smaller side of things (and, evidently) getting smaller, comparatively, I do worry some.  <sigh>

  • I am right there with you.  Eli ate applesauce and yogurt for supper tonight.  He turned down mac & cheese and a hot dog.  He is drinking a lot more milk as well.  I am thinking that this has something to do with the molars he is working on seeing as how all the toys seem to have made their way to his mouth today.

  • I so agree as soon as Meredith became a toddler she became a horrible eater! I'm lucky if I get her to eat a fistful size of food all day.  She drinks milk all day long if I let her but I would like to see her eat more.  I just tell myself they eat when they are hungry and read some where that they use food to show they're becoming independent and its something they can be in control of.  You are not alone :)
