When will you/did you do either and was it a good or bad experience? We haven't had a vacation since '06 and are thinking of maybe late this year or early next year. Thanks!

The key is time of day. We personally like red eye flights cause the kids are so so tired they will sleep regardless...but that is best if the raio is 1 on 1.
I also feel flights early in the morning are better. My kids are in a better mood, less likely to get crabby but that can also change depending on the length of the flight.
Direct flights are a dream cause connections stink, even for adults.
I have driven up to 8 hours by myself with both kids and managed OK. I left shortly before the morning nap, took a break for lunch and then drove like crazy. The last hour was killer for my older DD but DS managed just fine. She was 1 yr 4 months and he was 4 months.

my experience w/ oldest when she was 15 months was a red-eye was terrible- I'd rather go after a full nights sleep. She did so terribly that we haven't flown since- we're traumatized!
Re: travelling by car or flying w/ 2U2?
Are you planning on going alone or with DH?
