Can't sleep - C section in the morning!

My babies will be here in 9 hours.  It's surreal - everything that we have been through in the last 3 years are finally culminating in this.  I can't even wrap my brain around it!

Wish us luck.... I'll post details when I can.  And if any of you insomniacs has any last minute advice for me, please share!

Re: Can't sleep - C section in the morning!

  • Yaaaay! Finally getting to meet your babies is the most awesome thing - good luck!
  • My advice is... SLEEP!!!! Seriously. I was so nervous/excited/everything the night before my c-section I didn't sleep but maybe 2 hours. I was SO exhausted the next day(s). It is truly one of my biggest regrets that I went into the c-section so sleep deprived. I can barely remember the first few days with our babies because I was so out of it from being tired.  :(

Other than that... breathe and take lots of pictures! Smile

    Best wishes!!

  • good luck! i second the pp, sleep all you can now, because it wont happen later. when you are in the hospital send the babies back to the nursery between feedings (assuming you are bfing) so you can sleep. also take EVERYTHING from your hospital room. just keep asking for supplies (diapers, nipple shields, formula etc.) and hoard your supply to bring home.

  • Good luck today! It really is a surreal feeling, just last night DH and I were talking about the night before DDs were born and the excitement/nerves. Like PP said, take everything from the hospital room when you leave and let the nurses help with everything they can and teach you all their tips and tricks. Enjoy finally meeting your babies!

  • Not sure if you'll be reading this from the hospital, but here goes.  Like the pp said, horde everything (I would send DH home with diapers and formula every night and then would ask for more).  They get it free from the diaper and formula companies to get the patients hooked on their products, so I don't feel like I'm screwing over the health insurance industry.  Definitely snag some baby blankets, they're so much better IMO than the blankets you can buy from BRU.
