A friend of mine did it. I have no idea why, other than maybe someday she can have the nn Ali? It bugs me every time I see her name! Her other DD has a made up name too, though: Emalyn.
I have a 9 yr old niece with this name. Why not Olivia? Because "its too close too olives, and they are gross." (Yes, that is an actual quote. Can you tell we've been teasing SIL about it for close to a decade? lol) She also pronounces it AH-lih-vee-ah.
Alivia is the phonetic spelling of the way I pronounce Olivia. I don't ever say O-livia. It's AH-livia. And I think that people who want that specific pronunciation, spell it that way.
There was a girl on here, Elizabeth, that spelled her daughter's name like that. I'm not a huge fan of the spelling but can see why someone would use it.
FWIW, I should have probably spelled Cameron's name Camryn, since that is how I pronounce it (2 syllables, not 3). My mom says it with 3 and it drives me nuts!
Re: Alivia ... ?
don't you go making fun of Camallama now. ?Really woman, have some decency...?
*cough I agree it's awful cough*
