Anyone else have a low budget like this?
I just had sinus surgery, $500 and before the sinus surgery I mis-understood the insurance lady and thought that after my deductible, in-network drs were free.....WRONG. So, at paying 20% (which is still awesome because I know some people don't even get the coverage), I'm sad to say $500 will be all we can afford right now. I've had 2 appointments in one cycle and we're at $200. So I guess we can go another cycle if a BFN and that's it.
And, I told my grandma today....because she made a big deal about DS being a brother someday. Then she got upset because she thought we weren't trying at all then realized we were but had problems. She said if it doesn't happen, save money and try again.
thanks for listening.
Re: $500 is our infert. limit :(
I know how that goes. We don't have any IF coverage. It is all OOP. MH didn't realize that the meds weren't going to be covered either. My insurance doesn't have very good pharmacy coverage period.
I am sorry you are going through this. I really wish insurance was required to really cover IF. $500 isn't much coverage at all. Best of luck on your upcoming cycle! Hopefully, you don't have to reach your limit.
~SAIF/PAIF/Everyone Welcome~
Me= 37 and DH = 41
Dx: DOR, Endo, APA+ (really high beta 2 glycoprotein antibody and high everything else tested), heterozygous MTHFR mutation, positive for lupus anticoagulant, high FSH, low AMH and both tubes blocked (per HSG on 3/8/11)
IVF #1 - long lupron (with HGH, intralipids, lovenox and BA); 4 retrieved, 3 fertilized; ET 2 blasts and 1 frozen = BFN
IVF #2 - a version of antagonist with EPP (with HGH, intralipids, lovenox and BA); 6 retrieved, 4 mature, 3 fertilized, 2 blasts and 1 frozen blast transferred on day 5 = BFN.
IVF #3 April was postponed to May, May was canceled. June/July was canceled. Had a cyst aspiration and then began IVF #3 in August. ER on 8/22; ET on 8/24 with AH. +HPT on 9/5. Beta #1 (11dpo) = 3; Beta #2 (15dpo) = 29; Beta #3 (17dpo) = 60; Beta #4 (19 dpo) = 118. Heartbeat at 6 weeks 6 days =132. Lil is here!
TTC#2: Trigger + TI = BFN; Clomid + Trigger + IUI = BFN.
IVF #4: BCP + MDLF + Lovenox = 7R, 1F = Transferred 1 6-cell embryo on day 3 = BFN
IVF #5: MDLF + Lovenox = 4R, 1F = Transferred 1 10-cell compacting embryo on day 3 = BFN
IVF #6: (New RE): Long Antagonist November 2014 (transferred two 8 cell grade 1 embryos and froze one blast) = BFN
FET#1: BFN
Ditto this. No IF coverage here either. Well, the diagnostic testing has been so far. We've only had to pay deductibles. Still waiting for a huge bill to come in the mail. I guess its being taken care of through the insurance though.
But any meds or procedures are all OOP. ::sigh:: I don't understand why they don't make IF coverage mandatory...or at least an opt-in.

I am so sorry! We have no coverage for IF. Insurance did cover most of the testing and the lap (I was billed $37,000 and only had to pay $3,000)
We are now totally cash pay at this point.
I really hate that money has to dictate our plan care.

I'm sorry. We're in a similar situation.
I'm from Canada, so b/w, u/s, surgery, certain testing and certain prescriptions (non-fertility related, ex. synthroid) are covered. Everything else is OOP. We have been told to expect $15,000.00 - $25,000.00 in OOP expenses (depending on the treatments we require).
I have my initial consultation with the RE in August and I'm already having a panic attack about money.
