E's pedi just said after 1. She has only had it a few times though. There are no allergies for it on either side so I think she is safe. I have not given her a PB&J sandwich yet, the thought of the mess just gives me a heart attack.
Our's said after 1 too, and we have no family history of any nut allergies. Also, our ped. said that if you wait too long it can actually increase the chance of an allergy.
oh wow I didnt know this. I will have to ask pedi. My daughter is adopted though so I dont know the fathers side at all
I think they just recommend more caution when there is a history of allergies. I don't know that there is any right time. Maybe try something that has nuts in it rather than something that is only made of peanuts. DD had her first experience with peanut butter at 10 months. My mom made us cookies for chirstmas and DD got into the tin before anyone saw, she ate 3 peanut butter cookies in like 30 seconds!!!haha So, I figured if she didn't have any type of reaction to that, she would probably be fine with straight peanut butter.
