and the host's 18 month old had a fever you would expect them to cancel right? We were supposed to have about 25 adults and 15 kids over today but dd woke up with a fever of 101. Of course she is running around now after having some motrin (generic). DH is acting like I canceled Christmas but nobody would have wanted to bring their kids here right?
Honestly if her only symptom was a fever, I would not cancel. I would probably mention to the parents of children that your DD had a fever but I would not cancel. You can get a fever from cutting teeth which isn't contagious.

Ugh! That would be hard but again I wouldn't cancel unless she was showing other signs of sickness. I would mention to the parents.
this. I wouldnt cancel if DS just had a fever. If he was feeling better after motrin or tylonal or something. I would just call everyone and give them all a heads up. that way they can decide on if they wanted to come with their LOs
The same thing happened to us for a party we had, and I just texted everyone to let them know DS had a fever but I thought it was from teething, but I wanted them to know just in case they didn't want to bring their kids. Everyone ended up coming anyway.
A few of our close childless friends are coming today. We have invited everboy to come over on Friday. I feel like most of our friends with kids would not have come and I really wanted to have a get together with the kids too.
Now dd will get to bed on time and I can concentrate on her if she starts feeling bad again.
I wouldn't attend when the child has a fever even if there are no symptoms. Either the body is successfully fighting off the cause or the symptoms haven't presented yet. Either way, if the cause is something contagious, it can still be passed on.
