DS climbed out of his crib- WWYD?

So DS has climbed out of his crib twice now. He hasn't actually fallen out (which I'm worried he might), but climbs out pretty easily.

Anyway, we don't have the toddler conversion set for his crib, and I'm building him a toddler bed as we speak- but it won't be done for about a week. Should I maybe take his mattress out of the crib, and put it on the floor? I considered turning his crib around, but it's only higher on the back (not the sides) so I'm worried he's still going to attempt to climb out and really hurt himself. Or should I keep things as is for the week until his bed is done? WWYD?

DS climbed out when he was your son's age. We flipped the crib around (he never tried to get out the sides).  We didn't put him in a big boy bed until June when he was 27 months old.
