We just got back from our 1st RE appt and I'm thrilled to have a plan of action. I was afraid the appt would be mostly paperwork and not a lot of treatment discussion, but thankfully we left there feeling very informed. Basically, our RE said that even though DH morph was 2%, he still has high hopes for us and really puts us under the "unexplained IF" category. (I was a little shocked by this but oh well.)
Long story short, though he would normally suggest 3-4 IUI's before considering IVF, based on our insurance (covers 100% of a total of 6 cycles - lifetime) he understood our concern about getting the "most for our money". While I don't look forward to needles, etc of IVF...I also don't want to use most/all our 6 cycles to conceive our first child. Then what do we do later? He said he totally understood and his normal suggestions are based on the fact that most couples pay 50-100% OOP. In our case, he would be very willing to do IVF sooner/first if we chose to.
We talked and plan to do IUI with Clomid with my next cycle (couple weeks away!) and then take it from there.
If you've made it this far...Thanks! My question though - he didn't mention anything about the monitoring part. I know this is important... do you usually have to insist on the monitoring?
Thanks!!

Wow that is amazing that you have such great coverage.
I think all RE's know better than to do clomid without monitoring so I am sure he will have you schedule an u/s. If he did one today, that might count as your baseline u/s so that you wouldn't have to go back again until around CD12.

SAIF/PAIF Welcome
Lots of love and luck to my PAIF/3T/IF Veteran ladies, especially my dear friend Zookie. Congrats to Papps, Teach84 and Starbuck on their little ones.
We are very lucky...we definitely know not to take it for granted too!
He did do an US today. Would it be considered my baseline even if the IUI isn't until the next cycle? Does that make sense?

That is great news! Having IF insurance is a total blessing in all the craziness.
Monitoring usually just comes with the plan so it will probably be set up along the way. GL!
Congrats on having a plan!
We had our first visit this week too. We are doing one cycle with clomid, then moving onto IUI. Our doctor said even though we are 100% covered for IVF she did not think it would be necessary. Since I am a huge wimp that actually made me feel better.
Agree, more than likely, it's built in! And YGPM!
