Mission or Saddleback Hospital - your opinion

Please help me decide!  My OB delivers at both Mission and Saddleback.  I would love to hear your experiences to aid in my decision :)

A little background - I have planned on using Saddleback since I was considering a VBAC (Mission does not allow it).  But now it's looking like baby boy is going to be big like his sister.  So now I'm leaning back towards the scheduled c-section.  My personal friends have not had good experiences at Mission . . . but then I've heard they recently re-modeled and that the rooms are really nice and big, and the food is better.

Thanks!

Re: Mission or Saddleback Hospital - your opinion

  • Saddleback, all the way!  I love, love, love this hospital, staff, rooms, Dr's, etc.  I had no issues with their food, lol!  Friends who have delivered at Mission, comparing their experience to ours, was lack luster to say the least.  Congrats on your second!

  • I had a great experience at Saddleback!! The staff was so great!!! Food was okay, but not horrible. If I have another, Saddleback is totally by choice all the way!

    Good Luck on your delivery!

  • I had a great experience at Mission!  I loved it.  The nurses were all great and helpful.  Between the nurses and daily visits from LC, I was able to successfully bf.  The rooms were awesome...marble counters, large flat screens, etc.  I was just in L&D at Hoag and the rooms were way better at Mission. I actually considered changing OB's this time around to deliver at Mission over Hoag. Also important to me was CHOC being right there.
  • I delivered both at Mission.  I loved that the childrens hospital is right there.  I had a great experience both time.  I don't think you can go wrong with either one.
  • I delivered DS at Saddleback and loved pretty much everything about my experience there.
  • I tend to be against any establishment with restrictive policy regarding what I'm allowed to do with my body.  If you and your OB still think that a VBAC is a viable option (and best of luck to you with it!)  then I would avoid somewhere that absolutely will not allow it.

A good friend delivered at Mission about a year ago and didn't have much good to say about her experience.  While it did look all pretty and lovely inside, I doubt you'll spend much time checking out the flat screen tv or the wallpaper after your baby is born (or while you're in labor for that matter).
