1st birthday

What did all of you do for the 1st birthday. I want to have a party for my little princess but I have literally no family in town except my mom and my husbands whole family live out of town as well. We would invite our friends but half of them are busy on the day we have chosen and we can not seem to find a day during the summer that works. I do not want to not have a party for her but I do not want to have a lame one with only a few people either. None of our local friends have babies either so it would only be adults

Re: 1st birthday

  • I don't think you need a lot of people to have a nice party. What if you just had a small bbq with you, DH, DD, your mom and whichever friends can make it?

  • Couple things..

    1. You could always change the date so more people could come if you are able.
    2. I don't think you necessarily need to have a big party. Just because there's not many people there doesn't mean it will be lame. I'm sure as long as mommy and daddy are there, your LO will be thrilled that she gets to spend her special day with the two of you and a few close friends/family.

  • We had a "lame" party with just three of us and my parents. My parents were only there because we happened to be in the same city for reasons unrelated to the birthday.

I got pictures of her in a decorated high chair with cake. What else did I need?

  • We had a big part for LO, and to tell you the truth? I wouldn't do it again! It was so much work, I really didn't get to enjoy LO b/c I was so stressed about it, and she didn't know the difference! Go for low key, and really enjoy it!
