Does a modern co-sleeper exist!?

My DH and I have decided that we'd like to bed share/co-sleep.  I imagine that the baby will probably stay in bed with us most of the time, but I think that I may want to get a co-sleeper, just in case.

The Arm's Reach is just so blah!  I'm a designer, so I'd love something more modern and cool.  Any ideas?

Thank you!

Re: Does a modern co-sleeper exist!?

  • I saw one at BRU from a company called baby trend.  The only issue was there was one for a girl - which was cute, and one for a boy - which was really cliche.  (Blue stars, said something about sports on it.)  Then they have a VERY blah plain one.  We aren't finding out what we're having so I can't buy one ahead of time and the boy model is really not my style.

Ikea makes a crib called the Gulliver.  One side can be taken down - making a really nice looking co-sleeper.  But it only comes in white.  We considered it, but we don't have the space and aren't going to do a crib right away.  (It's only $99)  Have you checked AR's website?  They do have black and chocolate brown - which is the one we're getting.  But I haven't seen those colors in the stores.

  • Someone posted a really neat one some time ago I thought I had bookmarked for #2.  I can't find it :-(   However, I did find these which aren't bad:

  • You could always sidecar a crib.
  • I ditto EcoBaby's suggestion, by side-caring a crib you get the higher weight limits and additional space a crib will allow you.  The ARCS would have only lasted us 9 months max before DD outgrew it.

  • I was going to suggest sidecarring the Gulliver too. I saw this done on several modern nursery sites, including oh dee doh. We'll probably go that route next time.

LOVE it. It's great for a newborn... and great for a infant too. DD is still in it. she'll be growing out of it soon though... :(

I like the idea of sidecarring the crib!!

  • we sidecar the stokke sleepi and love it. it's very modern and hip.  plus, it starts out as a bassinet, so it doesn't take up a lot of space.

oooh la la!   I am all kinds of jealous!

I hated the look of the ARCS too but we got one for almost nothing so I went with it...and I have to say, I don't mind how ugly it is now b/c it is sooo useful.  Not just the side-carring feature but all of the pockets to keep stuff in and the storage underneath....I do kind of love it now, even though it does *not* go with our modern look.

Magicbeans.com has a hanging hammock that is pretty cool.

     These sites may have something.
