Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

Moms of 2+...I need a pep talk

I'm in the throes of first tri and feeling like total sh*t.  I had a talk with DH and he's helping out a ton, as in getting up w/ DS before work, taking over as soon as he gets home, cleaning up the kitchen, etc.  But I feel so guilty!  I feel guilty that DH has such long days and I feel bad that I'm not playing with DS enough and we're wasting these beautiful summer months (we do go out and do things, just not as much as he'd like).  I barely do enough laundry to get by, and forget folding it.

I've tried to 'suck it up' and just do more but then I end up more sick and more tired.

How did you make it through the first tri?  I don't mean to sound like a total whiner, I have lots of help form DH I just feel really guilty about it.

  • It will pass.  I was feeling pretty crappy for a while.  Being outside would probably make you feel better.
  • I just do what I have to do to get by. On my good days, I get a bunch done and try to do some fun stuff with the boys! On my bad days, well......I stay on the couch and try to be as still as possible and the boys play together. There are days when the house is a total wreck and we eat sandwiches or take out. (My H usually steps up to the plate but unfortunately this week and next he's working 14 to 16 hour days!!!)

SO, it will pass and things will normalize. Just hang in there.

  • We're in our 37th week of our 3rd pregnancy and I have to say that first trimester was awful!  Just do what you have to do to get by on certain days.  We watch a lot of Barney and I was able to lay down and do the motions and sing with my girls while I felt bad.

It will pass.  Just be a loving wife and a loving mom and at the end of the day it'll all be okay.  I understand your guilt, but just remember that baby will be worth it!

And I can say, once you get further along it gets easier! Well, at least in my case!
