Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease (Coxsakie Virus) Question

Hi Ladies,

DD was diagnosed with this on Monday night after having a 103.5 fever and being miserable for 2 days - she got the rash on Monday.  My pedi cleared her to go to daycare on Tuesday (she is at an in-home daycare) but I didn't feel right taking her and kept her home because she seemed miserable and just wanted to be with momma :)  But now we have a 1st b-day party to go to on Saturday and I don't want to bring her if she is still possibly contagious.  Anyone know how long it takes to be over this wonderful disease???

Re: Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease (Coxsakie Virus) Question

  • Its 24 hours from the time the fever breaks and then they are fine, but the blisters may linger for the rest of the week and into the next.

DS just had this a month ago and his blisters just finally went away in the last week and a half or so...the blisters arent contagious.  It's fairly common in kids under 4 so they usually say if one gets it at daycare they'll all get it, but at least its a once and done thing.

  • 24 hours from the time the fever breaks.  DS had this last month and it took about 2 weeks for all the blisters to go away.
