low blood pressure?

what does it mean that i have low bp? 

the dr came in and was gonna let me go home, but on a different med to stop my contractions since this one has sstopped working.  she said modified bed rest, blah blah blah.

but then the nurse came in and checked my vitals and said my bp was low and it might not be ok with the new meds, so she went to talk to dr...that was about 45 minutes ago and i'm still waiting to hear back.

in the meantime...you guys know anything?

what was your bp and what meds are you on? it is normal for your bp to be lower than pre-preg because your blood vessels dilate to contain the 50% increase in blood and fluids during pregnancy. If they gave you magnesium IV, it could lower your BP too much (it relaxes smooth muscles). the only other one I know off the top of my head is terbutaline, but I'm not sure about the side effects of that. I can look it up if you want......LMK what you're on....

i'm on terbutaline until around noon tomorrow...i'm switching to procardia since the terb isn't working anymore.  

so that makes me feel better...and hopefully the change will make it better too.
