Moms of side sleepers - ?

DS recently started sleeping on his side (9 m.o.).  For the last three nights he's woken up in the middle of the night soaked on his sleeping side b/c his diaper isn't "catching" everything at that awkward angle.   We're using Huggies Overnights.  In case it matters, he is also a super-chunk. ;-)  Anyone have a miracle trick for this?  It's getting old...fast.  Thanks!

We use Pampers Extra Protection diapers that are one size up from his normal size.  We started using the larger size because those diapers start at size 4, and he was in size 3 for everything else.  However, I think that having the larger diaper go up higher on his torso has helped with leaking issue.

One other thing -- are you pointing his penis down?  The pediatrician who saw DS in the hospital told us to do that to avoid pee out the top of the diaper so I assumed everyone did that with boys, but that method was news to my MIL

We have the same issue, so no suggestions.  And BabyCrown pulls down his diaper in his sleep.  I miss blanket sleepers.

also try a different diaper brand (in addition to the pointing of the penis, that always helps). we had awful results with huggies overnights, always leaked out. never had problems with pampers or target brand. it's been a while, but i don't think either pampers or target made an overnight diaper, but the regular ones worked just fine. perhaps the cut on our child wasn't a good fit. if it's a recent issue and you've only noticed it b/c LO's sleeping in a different position, try the penis angle and if that doesn't eliminate the problem, adjust the fit by trying a different brand.
