Tip on transitioning to big bed?

We were on vacation last week, just DS and I, so he slept with me in the full sized bed at the hotel.  Now that we are home, he insists on sleeping in the full sized bed in his room.  I am happy that he wants to do that, but in the middle of the night he gets up, goes into the hallway all confused and starts crying.  So how exactly do I get him to stay in there all night?

Re: Tip on transitioning to big bed?

  • He may just need more time to adjust. Is there a crib in his room? Maybe taking it out and putting the bed in it's spot may help if he continues to get up.

  • Can you keep him confined in his room?  DS will sometimes get out of bed, but he gets back in because there is no where to go.  Also, do you have a toddler rail for your crib?  Maybe put that on so he can get into the crib if he wants to.
