Emmalee isn't quite 18 months yet, and is not yet really into crafts. I was able to get her to "help" me color some pictures for Father's Day. I bought the Tadoodles crayons by Crayola and she was able to use them. Mainly, she loves to dance to music, ANY music.
We started DD on crafts at a year. She is in EI for speech therapy & once a week the teacher does crafts one on one with her. The teacher loves crafts & was anxious to start with her as soon as she could. lol. She uses washable paint pens. They are kind of like stamps. All DD has to do it press them on a piece of paper. She also uses stickers. She's not quite sure what she's doing & usually ends of making a mess...but it's fun & it's good for her development.
DD is 21 months, but we started doing crafts with her a long time ago. The attention span is short, but she has almost as much fun as I do doing the same crafts. LOL. Try painting rocks for the garden or something simple like that to start.
DS is 22 mos and has colored and fingerpainted since a year. We also use glue sticks and the foam shapes to make pictures. DS uses the melissa and Doug stamp sets. We make animal puppets out of colored paper bags with foam shapes and pipe cleaners.
Re: 18 months- Crafts?
DS loves finger painting, he has these crayons. He's not too good with them, he prefers markers or pens.
I'm thinking about getting him Moon Sand.
