We did it. The doc at the hospital was accommodating to our birth-center birth plans. DH watched the placenta pulsing and watched it stop, which I think is awesome.
We also saved my placenta for encapsulation, so long as you're researching things...
We did it. It lasted a few minutes I guess. Time was kind of irrelevant/surreal at that point. She was on my tummy and crying while they wiped her down. I was just holding her and letting her pee on me. The midwife cut the cord after it stopped pulsing as per our wishes in our birth plan.
We did it, but it was also standard procedure for our midwifery practice, so we didn't have to tell them or anything. I was so out of it by the time DD arrived that I don't even remember the cord being cut, though.
we planned to, and it's standard practice with the midwives i went to, but we weren't able to because of meconium in the amniotic fluid and dd not crying when she came out and needing deep suction from the NICU team. :-( dh wasn't able to cut the cord either. i was disappointed but obviously you have to go with it when things come up. :-)
That was my plan. I wanted DS to lay on my chest right after he came out with cord still attached, but things went differently. His heart rate was dropped for 25 minutes and wasn't breathing. So he was rushed away across the room.

We did it with E. I didn't do too much research just knew I didn't want to collect the cord blood so I might as well let E have it if the situation allowed. She was fine and they had no qualms letting it finish pulsating. The midwife told us when it had stopped after I delivered the placenta and then set it up for DH to cut the cord. I didn't even really notice that any time had elapsed without it cut. It was pretty quick.
Re: anyone know about or have experience w/ leaving cord to pulsate?
