re: going to the beach for a long weekend and my concerns about V refusing to sleep for very long in her pnp and hoping she'll sleep in it if it's night since we'll have it and not the cosleeper.
mom: "well are you bringing the stroller?"
me: "um...yeah probably, why?"
mom: "because maybe she'll sleep in the stroller"
me: "?!?!???!!!!! ::deep breath:: she is NOT going to SLEEP IN HER STROLLER ALL NIGHT LONG!!!! ?!?!????!!!!"
i mean, really?? really, mom??? these things she says make me worry about the inevitable time that she babysits. that and her constant talk about just putting V down and letting her cry when she's inconsolable/fussy/etc. yikes.
Re: another my-mom-ism
it sounds like she was trying to be helpful. and really, unless V is extremely advanced and rolling already, it's not like it'd be super dangerous either (assuming your stroller lays flat and has wheels that lock).
I think your post partum hormones are getting the best of you...because this really isn't anything to get worked up over. Nor does it mean she's incapable of babysitting.

I totally feel you on wanting to do everything right. I am a person who really gets stuck on that... mostly because I would never be able to forgive myself if I did something the "wrong" way and something went wrong.
That being said, now that I have 2 kids, I would totally let DD or DS sleep in their stroller when they were that little. As a matter of fact, DS slept in his carseat until he was about 6 or 7 months. He had colic and reflux and slept sooo much better that way. Our pedi at the time said she did it w/her LO too so that made me feel better. If you have a travel system, you could put V in that to sleep if you think she would do better.
what stroller do you have? Because most of the non-umbrella strollers lay almost flat. If it's a travel system, it most definitely lays flat because the seat typically has to be down to accomodate the car seat.
And K took many a nap in her bouncer chair. And the car seat. When away from home you've gotta do what you gotta do.
I've owned 3 travel systems, and not a single one of them reclined all the way or even layed almost flat. Not even the Graco Duo stroller. the seats all hooked on the further foward cup holders, so the seats only went back about 180 degrees.
graco alano - it reclines for the carseat but is definitely nowhere near flat.
and i also recently read about how babies should spend as little time as possible in carseat-like seats because of decreased oxygen levels in how their heads can slump which is why i reacted how i did. specifically as i recently was telling her about this.

you realize that 180 degrees IS flat, don't you?
no, it's not recommended long term. But you're a mom now, and you're going to need to learn to be flexible and let some things go.
and according to reviews I'm reading online, the alano does in fact recline to a flat or near flat position.
I'm not saying you need to let your kid sleep in the stroller, if it makes you uncomfortable, it makes you uncomfortable. But flipping out on your mom over it is a bit of an overreaction, especially since she was only trying to offer you a suggestion that she thought would be helpful.
I can blame this on a migraine, right?
My eyeballs feel like they could explode. Ugh.
I stand corrected. None went past around 145 degrees.
Bruce ONLY slept in his stroller for the first couple of weeks. He looked sooo tiny in the pnp bassinet that we kept him in the stroller bassinet (we have a Bugaboo that we used with him) and just wheeled him around the apartment wherever we were...
I agree - this isn't such a big deal. She probably assumed it laid flat and you could put her in there and walk her around until she fell asleep and then leave her in there. That is what I was assuming until you said it doesn't go fully flat.
