ring appraisal

When DH bought my engagement ring the jeweler told him that he should get it appraised every 5 years. Has anyone done this? Is it worth the money to pay for the appraisal again?

I would check with your insurance company to see what they would recommend

Probably so.  Check with Windsor, they'll at least look at it and give you advice before charging you anything.  Also, make SURE your jewelry is added on to your insurance policy.  Most policy's only reimburse like $1000 unless you have extra coverage.

Butting in.... I love Windsor. I really do.  They are so great and have always had excellent customer service.  I took one of my rings to be cleaned there a couple months ago and they asked about the other ring I had on. I said, well it didn't come from her. They didn't even blink an eye and did both.

But back to your question, I've never heard of getting it appraised every 5 years.  We have a separate policy on my wedding rings and then also for another ring that I inherited (it came from Windsor).  Let me know what the folks at Windsor tell you. I am curious now.
