He doesn't like the taste of your milk

says my mom. "That's why he's arching his back and screaming when you try to feed him." Indifferent

As if that wasn't bad enough. I get him into the pedi. Meds are switched to prevacid, and the pharmacy doesn't have them in stock right now.

Still no word on the Pertussis test, but D looks fine now.

  • *hugs*

even when my mom jokingly comments about my milk being anything less than complimentary i get upset.  like if i eat something spicy or cabbage the other day etc..even when i know she's kidding and doesn't mean any harm.  i also get upset with references to being or milking the cow.  i can't imagine what i would have done in your place

I just looked at her dumb founded. She also came to my house, brought my niece. Put my niece in C's crib and began to let her CIO to nap. I went in and rocked her to sleep. I come out and mom's asleep and Hubs has both of our kids who are screaming. Ugh. Fail, mom!

I totally understand... my mom is insane too.... When I was bf'ing Addy she would say to me "you look exhausted, why don't you just give that baby a bottle, obviously your boobs aren't working."  and "you are feeding her AGAIN?" or "she is STILL nursing?!"  Thanks, mom... thanks for the support. Ugh.

I'm sure it's just the reflux. Hopefully you can get the little man feeling better!

That was SO sweet of you to rock your neice too.

OH and FWIW my favorite and most heard from my mom  "She's hungry. You need to give that girl some cereal already. I gave you cereal at 2 months!"   Really, mom? thanks... that might explain why I have acid reflux and am overweight... She was TICKED when I told her we weren't doing cereal and we weren[t even trying solids till after 6 months. LOL

THREE WEEKS?! Oh my Lord. Ya they did crazy stuff back in the day, man... it's amazing.  My thing is seriously at that age you can tell a kid isn't even remotely ready too, that's what kills me. I have seen some 4 month olds who are given cereal or baby food that just basically get it all over themselves... I don't get how in the world a 1-2 month old could "eat."  CRAZY!

That is really odd you have GERD too! Makes me really wonder...

Good lord, what is wrong with people?

I consider myself proof of the benefits of EBFing - I was EBF until 6 months, no solids, and BF'd overall for almost 3 years. I have NO food allergies, NO seasonal allergies (except for when I went to South Carolina), and only one "allergy" to medication. The medication isn't even a real allergy, it's a "bad reaction", and my mom can't take it either.

My brother, on the other hand, was given formula at 2 months (by my grandparents - they fed it to him and my mom didn't know, and it killed her supply), and is allergic to soy (the formula was soy) and a ton of other things, and he takes benedryl every day now.

Same story in my house. My mom EBF me and my younger brother until a year (no solids even) and FF my older brother. He has a lot more allergies and health issues and food sensitivities than either of us do. Interesting.
