I just wanted to clarify... I answered no rash because it was not related to the cds... we had a very short lived contact dermatitis due to using pampers sensitive wipes. We buy target brand sensitive ever since and have zero problems except for the occasional friction on the chunky thighs.
I wanted to pick two options. For a while I was using a wipes solution with DD and she got yeast rashes all.the.time. Then I switched to just water and she still got yeast rashes...so she is now in disposable pull ups (UGH). However, DS has never had a real rash and he's been CDed since birth and I have only used water on his wipes or commercial wipes when we're out.
We have used a homemade wipe solution, just water, water with TTO, and disposable wipes and have a terrible rash issue with DD. I can say that the CDs are not the cause as we switched to disposables for a week to see if the rash would clear up and it did not.
I said some rash issues with own solution, but every rash we have had is related to teething. When DD is erupting a tooth, her poop burns her bum no matter how fast I get her changed.

This is generally the case with us, and it gets BAD when he's teething, but lately, there seems to be a spot or two that just doesn't seem to want to clear up, and it's driving me batty!!!

Be careful with those spots, that's how it started for us and now, the pediatrician says that the bacteria has colonized her bum area so getting rid of it is even more difficult. If there really are spots that won't go away in the same place, I'd go to the pedi and get it cleared up before you end up where we are.

Really - what did they look like? Ours are kind of small little not-quite blisters, but not all that red, either - just bigger raised bumps, and only one or two at a time. Did you have to do something to get the bacteria out of your diapers? I may add a bit of bleach the next wash.

I wanted to click two choices also. I use water to clean DD after wet diapers, but use disposable wipes when we are out or to clean up poopy diapers....they are just too messy for washrags. DD has had several rashes with CD's.
Unfortunately, that sounds really familiar papa. At the worst, those spots became full out blisters and bled, but normally, they are these pea sized spots that got red and a little raised and just never really went away. I bleached the dipes with no effect, the staph (that's what the culture came back as) doesn't seem to be living in the dipes (hence the reason that switching to sposies didn't help), just on her skin (its a naturally occurring bacteria) and just got into her system there because of the repeated irritation.

Ugh - thanks... I'll check him out tonight - the latest was looking like it'd be gone in the next day or so, but if it's not looking better or if/when we have another, I'll take him in. Boo....

For us, the problem was that it never really went away - we'd get better but the spot would still be there, that was the problem, not that it would come back again. Like I said, staph and other bacteria is naturally occurring on the skin and isn't a problem but for colonizing DD's bum and getting into her system, so if you can actually get rid of it, I wouldn't worry (DD would get what I term "shadow spots" where the area would look less irritated and get lighter but it never turned back to skin color if that makes sense).
Thanks, Sam. I'll keep an eye on it - we have one spot that has never gotten fully normal again, but it was from a really bad teething outbreak, and I'd assumed it was a little scar (which surprised me). It's not really shadowy, though, just a round circle outline where the sore was originally. Except for the outline, it's the same color as healthy skin, and doesn't seem irritated at all. Really just looks like a scar.
Hopefully this one goes away and he clears up for awhile. His last teething rash was followed right away by two of these, so it feels like it's been a long time since he's really been 100% clear (he's gotten in a LOT of teeth lately). I hate when he gets irritated!

Any rash issues we've had were not related to wipes, so I voted accordingly. The rashes he's had have mostly been related to wool - maybe he's too sensitive to it. He will also occasionally get dryness rash around his thighs.
I voted for never, but Sam did have one bout of rash - not sure if it was more than a tiny bit red, but it was a day he had diarrhea and had like 20 diaper changes. I would still say he doesn't ever have diaper rash. We use Nature Baby Care wipes.

This sounds like your LO may have had ring worm. ?You may want to have the pedi take a look at it. ??
Re: Clicky poll - CD's and rash
We had one yeast rash in CDs. We make our own wipe solution (water, baby wash).
DS was allergic to 9/10 types of sposie brands though and the rash issues with them were a million times worse.
