Just curious- how would all of you spell this name?
I spell it Adrienne but my friend disagrees. Although she also thinks Madilyn is the best spelling for Madeline, so obviously I am in the right
What do you think?
Adrienne/Vivienne always looked very pretentious to me, even though they are just the French spelling, right?
Anyway, even though it is the "masculine" I prefer Adrian to either of those.
Adrianne looks like it would be pronounced Adri-anne to me. And if you changed it to Adrian, I believe that's the more masculine spelling.
I think you are completely right- Adrianne looks like it should end with the 'anne' sound.
And yes, it is the French spelling.
PP, I like Adriana as well!
Thanks for the input, ladies
Pattypoundcake: yep its the French spelling. OP, I guess it just depends which version of the name your pulling from. I've seen Adrienne, Adrian, Adrianne, Adrianna (my favorite), and Adriana

Oh, I like that.
I think either spelling is lovely, but I agree I'd pronounce them differently. So decide how you'd want her name pronounced and go with that.
Ay-dree-EHN or Ay-dree-ANN
strangebird:These are two different names for me. Ay-dree-enn and Ay-dree-anne. I strongly prefer Adrienne, both for the look and sound.
this!
GrahamSchneider:I think you are in the right. On both accounts :-)

Oh, definitely.
Adrienne is a lovely name! I know one Adrienne, and she's super smart and sweet, so it has good connotations for me
Both spellings are correct - Adrienne is French, while Adrianne is English. Both are feminine forms of Adrian.
