Baby Names

Irish names

DH and I have a very Irish last name.  We'd really like all of our children to have Irish names.  However, I'm having a hard time finding ones I like.  What's your favorite Irish name?

Please... do not name your child Ceamon.  It rhymes with semen, and all the kids and throughout his life, he will be reminded of it.

I don't even think Ceamon is actually an Irish name, it sounds made up.

"Hello, babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. At the outside, babies, you've got about a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies. God damn it, you've got to be kind." - Kurt Vonnegut
  • My sister's name is Brighid, which is spelled strangely enough to play up its Irish-ness, but not nearly as mystifying to English-speakers as Niamh or Caoimhe.
  • Lots of good ones listed. I went to grad school with an Ailish (girl) and I never see that mentioned. She said it was Irish.

I also like Seamus and Conor/Connor.
