I think Izzy will be on bottles til she is 3. She used to drink a little from them- but now she wants NOTHING to do with them. I have tried a few different kinds and she hates them all. She has basically gone on a sippy strike. Anyone else go through this?
Re: Anyone's DC hate the sippy?
Now that we have started adding a little juice to it, Garrison will drink out of it but I am still very doubtful that we will have success anytime soon with the sippy being her only mode of beverage transport. We haven't even considered putting her formula in it since we haven't started the transition to WCM either.
Sorry I'm no help, hope she has a change of heart soon.
DD does this on and off... she can't use a sippy with a valve (so we have lots of messes on our hands
) and would much rather have a bottle. Sometimes she'll cry in hopes that she'll get a bottle, but I try and stay strong. Our pedi said that his 1 year old refused to drink for 2 days and finally gave in and took the sippy. I won't go that far (we're down to 3 bottles/day) but we're working on it. Until a few weeks ago she wouldn't drink from a sippy at all, and refused to hold her sippy or bottle. So we've made progress. She will only use the take-n-toss or munchkin sippy.. no frills and I have to take the valve out or she can't get anything.
Hang in there.. she'll get it eventually!!

raising hand!
BOTH my twins want nothing to do with sippies.
I have tried juice- no interest beyond chewing for a few minutes then throwing it around and making it drip everywhere.
I have tried first morning bottles changed to sippies - when they are most hungry - they drink half and throw it aside...
i just said today in another post that my twins will be like Suri cruz and use bottles until they are 3- lol.
but really - WTF??? Griffin was on all sippies at 12 mo- he was so easy... and my twins are just not into it.
i'm going to try a few new types.... it's just such a PITA.
And Gibby will eat ANYTHING and everything- so why not from a sippie????
H doesn't seem to "get" the sippy. He puts it in his mouth, bangs it, and then is over it. He never sucks and gets anything out! He does drink out of it when I take the valve out, though! (And finds it rather amusing!)
I had a few friends suggest getting this bear cup. You can squeeze the liquid up the straw a little to teach them what it does, and then they learn how to suck out of the straw. I just ordered one to see.
don't waste money on the bear cup --- just go out to dinner somewhere that gives you a plastic kid's cup with a straw when you order a kid's meal --- then you can squeeze the cup and the liquid will come up to help learn how to drink from a straw -- this is how Griffin learned- and also how Gibby has learned (we have a few of these cups at home). Gray wants nothing to do with the straw... but that's typical for him
the only problem when you teach straw cups is if your child is good at tipping the bottle- then they tip the straw cups, too.... if your baby doesn't tip the bottle then it's not an issue.
Gibby tips the bottle up really well- so when he has a straw cup he gets nothing... so i'm not going to push straw cups on him for a while.
i need to try those take and toss cups - i have a ton- never thought to try those b/c they seem so "mature" lol.
TRACY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How the hell did i miss your bfp post? I had to take a 2nd look. I'm sooooo happy for you!! You must be so excited! This is great, awesome news!!
Plus i can't believe Izzy is over one now! How time has flown...
OMG i 'm in complete shock right now!! This just made my day
Hey Rach! Yeah can you believe it??!! We wanted to start TTC #2 so we went back to the RE for the initial consult/bw/testing. The b/w showed AF was no where in sight so they gave me prometrium to bring on AF so I could get my initial testing/HSG done. Well AF never came (prometrium always works for me).....so I took a HPT for giggles. Well to my COMPLETE shock it was a BFP!!! I am still trying to believe this is all real and happening. I don't know if you remember all the bleeding crap I had with Izzy- well it is back with this one so once again I am on bedrest. I have had 2 u/s so far (last one was yesturday) and baby has a beautiful heartbeat and looks good. So I just need to get through the bleeding again. So far this morning no blood (knock on wood!).
BTW- I looked at your blog and your bump is SOOOOO cute!!!! I bet you are gettting so excited! Is the morning sickness stuff gone?
This is such great news. I was hoping you wouldn't have the bleeding though. But don't be too scared..you got Izzy even with all that bleeding. It sucks that you are on bedrest already. I hope it doesn't last long. I was actually hoping from you beta it was twins lol..i'm sure you'd freak but you'd get used to it and be excited. I'm glad we don't have to go through IF again..if we get pregnant naturally then i guess it was meant to be. I can't wait to see these little ones.
The m/s is gone but i have heartburn that makes me sick sometimes. I watch what i eat most of the time but usually i just eat whatever i want and deal with the consequences which sometimes is really bad. I stay away from spag sauce at all costs!
Oh Tracy this is just such awesome news. I am so very excited for you and your hubby. I'm praying for you and your new baby for a safe & healthy 9mos.
Oh thanks on my bump. Most people tell me i'm so small to be having twins but they are right on track and i'm very small anyway so i have to learn to let it roll of my back. But most people tell me i look great. My dh tells me i'm beautiful everyday. He is so excited for these babies. Not scared at all. He's going to be a great father and i just can't wait to see him interact with them.
Keep me posted on how you are. I guess i'll have to check the SAIF board more often! Boy was i surprised to see your ticker! i almost jumped off my couch in excitement for you!!! Sending you a huge congrats (((((hug)))))
