I can see your point, but personally I pronounce these: Oh-when Conk-linn, so they're similar, but the ending has enough difference that doesn't clash. If you pronounce Owen oh-winn, then, I wouldn't use it.
I think it sounds fine. We're using Owen as a middle name if we have a boy

Though I love the name Owen, I think the two of them together are a bit of a tongue twister. I feel your pain, having a last name that negates the trendiest ending on the block. We've had to cut a lot of names out of our list because the ending of our last name doesn't work with a lot of names we love.
