G's diapers smell a lot more "pee-e" now that he's older. We're using vinegar occasionally in the wash, and while it's helping A LOT, I don't really feel it's getting the pee smell out all the way.
Should we be doing vinegar at both warm AND cold rinses for every wash?
If so, should we be stripping the diapers a lot more frequently? I've read that residue can gather over time.
We have BG's if it matters.
Thanx!
Re: CD mommas: vingar in rinses. How often?
I do it every time because we have super-hard water. Only in the final rinse, though.
Do the diapers smell like pee out of the washer? Or just after he's peed in them? And is it a pee smell, or an ammonia smell? I know ammonia means you need to strip, but if it's just pee, maybe his urine is just really concentrated?

Huh. Ok, I've been putting the vinegar in the second warm/cold wash. And yeah, it smells like pee right after the washes, but before the dry. After the dry there's still a lingering smell. That's why I've been trying the vinegar. And I've only been using 1/3c.
Ok, so I'll try adding more vinegar, and doing it in the cold wash first.
Thanx!

If it smells like pee out of the washer, the diapers aren't getting clean. You may need to use more detergent!
