Help me PLEASE with DDs sleep!

Ahhh! I can't take it anymore! I just can't! For about the last month she's decided that 2-4 am is her wake wake up time! The no cry sleep solution has never worked. I finally night weaned (she was waking 6-8 times a night to nurse!) her at 15 months (which went very well) and she started STTN. She weaned about 2 weeks ago also but again her bedtime routine is the same minus nursing (I rock her). Anyway I'm almost ready to Ferber her which I thought I'd never do. The problem is she can climb out of her crib in a second. She's skeeping in her pack n play which she can almost get out of, and when she finally goes back to sleep she joins us in our bed. I've tried to have her sleep with us all night and it doesn't matter she's still up. I have bought a crib tent which the inside liner that goes around the inside is too small for her crib. We've even looked for a smaller crib but can't find one to fit the tent. DH wants to try and attach just the top to the crib but we haven't yet. Please help! What I can I do? I'm still working so being up from 3 am daily is killing me! Last night we were up from 230-530:( Thanks girls

Re: Help me PLEASE with DDs sleep!

  • maybe a toddler bed?  put a baby gate up at her doorway so if she gets out of bed, it's no big deal.

I did not want to CIO with ds, but we did a modified cio after a year because I couldn't handle it.  I

I would let him cry for 5-10 minutes and see what happened.  sometimes he would go back to sleep, if he continued to cry, I would go in there, reassure him it was okay, then leave him in there again (let him cry for 5-10 increaments)  Then I started increasing the time (3 days of that then I would do 10-15 minutes)  It only took about a week or so, but now it's good.  :)

But I just realized your dd is 15 months, so if you don't want to try a toddler bed, I would try the tent like your dh said. :)

  • I was also thinking toddler bed. DS went in one at 16 months bc he hated the crib. He slept so much better!

We actually didn't get him in a bed for a few months. We just put the mattress on the floor and a safety rail against it so he wouldn't roll onto the floor.

Worth a shot and it's only one messed up night if it doesn't work.

  • We have a tent but it's too small:( We bought the crib tent 2 which has netting around the inside of the crib so their feet and legs don't get stuck in the rails. Well the crib tent 1 does not have that, only the top of the tent. The top of the tent fits her crib just DH hasn't tried to fix it. We are thinking if we just cut off the bottom nettting and secure the top around the top of her crib with something sting like zip ties it would work. I'm going to JoAnns today to try to find something to hold it. I can't return the one we have it was given to us and I don't have the box. I'll have to try the gentle CIO like you did. I hate to do it but she's almost 17 months old so I think it's better than doing at a younger age. Thanks

Ive been thinking about a bed but I fear that she'll wander the room at night and get hurt. She's in our room still and I'm still nervous about putting her in her own room. It's awfully far from our room. We hope to sell the house soon and get a more baby friendly house. I guess like you said it's worth a try. I can just use the crib mattress on the floor.
