Etsy etiquette

I have only ever bought one thing on Etsy, and it was a year ago.  I'm interested in a couple things on there for Justin's birthday this year and sent messages to two different sellers (completely different items). 

How long do I give them to respond before I give up and move on to someone else?  I'm really disappointed I haven't heard from either one of them.

Not sure how other responses will compare with mine but I would only allow 48 to 72 hours. My thoughts is that if you are trying to run a business, no matter the forum or how small it is, you need to offer timely and courteous service. I would expect a "business owner" to check their email at least every other day if not daily. But that's just me.

That's kind of what I was thinking too, Kristen.  Glad I'm not the only one.  I actually think they need to check daily and wasn't sure if I was being unreasonable.

I was just sending a few messages on Etsy myself last night!. And this one seller got back to me within one hour (my emails go to my phone). I was impressed!

I'd say give them 2 or 3 days. Maybe try clicking on their store to see if they're on vacation. I know one person I'm waiting to hear back on said they were out until next week....

I totally agree that it is not unacceptable to think someone who has a business should be checking email at least every other day.  i was on vacation for over 2 weeks and I checked my messages at least every other day, but mostly every day.  I ended up having more orders while I was gone than I had received in the past month!

Personally, I think 48 hours is my max! This goes for many different call-backs and return e-mails....I normally can only stand to wait 24 hours for a response before I re-call or re-send an e-mail. If it's something on a site that I can move onto another seller and I'm not in LOVE with the item...then I would move on after 24 hours. JMO
