Does anyone else's LO think it's OK to sleep most of the day and then be wide awake and fussy from midnight to 5 AM for the past 3 days? He is 13 days old and I thought he would be getting BETTER at night sleeping, not worse!!!
Any tips on what I can do? He doesn;t seem to eat well between those hours either-usually only for 6-7 minutes (BFing) and then refuses to take anymore and acts like he is going to sleep, then the minute I put him in the bassinet, fuss, fuss, fuss!
Re: LO wide awake from midnight on!!
My Lo is six weeks old today and for the past week and a half this is exactly what my LO has been doing. I put him down at 10 and he is up at midnight and does just what your LO is doing! Nurses for a few min falls asleep and then wakes right back up!! People keep tellling me to keep him up during the day more!! Its hard with this heat because all he wants to do is sleep!
My little guy had a hard time sleeping at first- like your LO he would fal asleep while eating and then be wide eyed as soon as I layed him down. My lactation consultant suggested bedsharing...if you and your SO are up for it (DH and I never thought we would be but quickly changed our tune)- I can honestly say it has helped with our sleep sooo much! DS starts the night out in his RNP and when he wakes up for his first night time feeding I use the side lying position to feed him and we both get some rest. He sleeps so much better this way which means that we do too
THere is a lot of information on safe bedsharing on the Dr. Sears website.

Seriously- while breastfeeding, I am sold on bedsharing being the best option...at least for our little family!
GL! Hope that you get a good night of rest soon
