Babies: 6 - 9 Months

Refusing Food

For the past few weeks Abby has been refusing food I have tried pureed as well as finger foods. She will eat nothing ut formula. At first I thought maybe her ears but she just finished her medications and seems to be feeling better. Any food she still won't eat though. She has even gone so far as too gag and throw up a few times. I don't know what to do, formula isn't keeping her full. She is up every few hours every night. PLEASE help I don't know what to do.

TIA

Re: Refusing Food

  • well she is only 4 months old, perhaps she isn't ready to eat solids or finger food?

  • No she is almost 8. She has been eating solids since four. I don't know why my banner is a count down to her birthday I have tried to change it a million times.

  • oh because I was gonna say ummmmmmm finger foods with a 4 month old not cool.

Do you think she is teething? I know with my lo she goes into spurts where she wants nothing to do with food.

  • That was my first thought as well but I have double, and triple checked and no other signs...plus it has lasted so long. I'm really getting concerned. I'm thinking of taking her to the pedi. I was think maybe a sore throat or something?
  • How much formula are you feeding her?  Maybe you should up the amount she has in her bottle and see if that helps. I agree with pp, maybe she's not ready for solids yet
  • If she's been eating food without an issue for the last four months and the food refusal has gone on for a week or more without any other signs or symptoms of something being wrong, then I'd definitely take her in to see what the pedi says. Just out of curiousity, how many ounces of formula is she getting in a day?

  • She is taking about 32 ounces a day. Sometimes a little less.
