We had the same problem so I sort of rigged my own solution. I bought a cheapo pressure mounted curtain rod, black curtains ( I even think they said black out on them-walmart), slid the curtain on, mounted it and done. It is very dark in his room now. : )

I don't know about blinds, but I bought black-out curtains at Target and put them over their two windows and it works great! On rainy days, it looks like its night time in their room!!! They had all sorts of colors.
We keep it DARK in Sean's room. We have regular blinds that we close all the way (they match the rest and that's what's visible from the outside of the house). Over those we have a blackout roller shade (the kind that you can pull and it rolls up and down) that we got at Walmart - specifically states blackout on the package (and there were two degrees of blackout ability -we got the darker one). Over the top of those (and visible to the inside of the room) are blackout curtains that we bought at Lowes (I'm sure they probably carry the blinds too). One of the things that helps in our other rooms (we didn't do a good job in the nursery of this) is that we hung the curtains well over the top of the window and well to the side. This provides extra coverage and helps diffuse the light coming around the corners of the other stuff and keeps it from shining through.
With his blackout gear and his sound machine, he sleeps until 9:00 most mornings

I got mine at Bed Bath and Beyond. Anywhere has them and you can probably find them cheaper then BBB. Oh, stay away from the gimmicky ones that are recommeded for kids rooms like in the baby catalogues (they look beige and are vinyl. These are a waste of money and do not do a thing (I even tried taping them to the wall).
Ditto to the sound machine from above. It works great!

And I want to add the "rigged" part is not visible, the reg. curtain and valance hides it.

We also use a portable fan to keep the air circulating. I put it on medium during nap time and slow at night. It works really well.
