Success after IF

Slow Fetal Heart Rate @ 6weeks 2 days

Hi!

I had my first ultrasound w/RE today.  I am 6 weeks 2 days.  Baby was measuring well, heart beat was detected but the doctor said it was slower than what he would like to see.  Did not get the beats per minute, I was kind of in shock and didn't ask.  He wants me to come back in 8 - 10 days and have another ultrasound.

I am worried sick about this.  With DS he had a beautiful, strong beating heart.  This is our final IVF (#8) and I am praying it works out. Has anyone else had a similiar experience?

  • Congratulations!!!  6 weeks, 2 days is still so early -- it is very possible that the heart *just* started beating, which is why it was slow.  Many don't see a hb until closer to 7 weeks.  Good luck!!!

  • Exactly what PP said.  it is still so early.  I just had an u/s this morning and she wasn't even going to measure the heartbeats due to it still being early (7w1d).  She was just looking to see if they were there.  I asked her to and she did, but did have a difficult time due to everything still being so small and I don't think that the u/s machine is the greatest.

    Good luck!

    Nothing to see here....

  • Mine was 112 or so at 6wks (both times I think).  I would try not to worry until the next appt.  If it was under a 100, they get slightly concerned, but honestly that is SOOOO early.  I think it will be fine.  If it was 96 or so, that is still kinda good for that early.

My RE says you need two datapoints (two u/s to know that baby is growing).   So good luck on your next u/s and I'm betting it goes up and the baby is growing correctly...

Yup, I had an unscheduled u/s at 6w3d due to spotting.  RE saw hb, but it was on the lower side.  He told me it was still early and that's why he likes to check starting in the 7th week.  A week later it was stronger.  GL.

2nd ectopic resulted in loss of tube. HSG revealed remaining tube is "severely torqued".
