Hey everyone!
Thanks for all of the well wishes yesterday! I still can't believe she's here, nor that I'm the first of the July moms to go!
Labor wasn't that bad, but I was glad when it was over. This tear hurts a LOT but besides that and being tired, I'm feeling really good.
Quinn is stuck in the NICU because I had a fever while I was in labor and was also GBS positive so they are monitoring her in case she has some sort of infection. She's on antibiotics for 48 hours and then she should be able to come with us. We'll wait and see on that. It's pretty much the best reason a baby could ever be in a NICU so I'm glad she's not sick at least.
I really wish she was in the room with us but that's not going to happen. So, I'm spending most of my time is being spent in the NICU with her. I have successfully negotiated a feeding on demand schedule with her (instead of the NICU every 3 hour schedule) where they'll call me whenever she wakes up or is acting hungry (if I'm not there already). I've been down there 5 times so far today and have tried breast feeding every time. I've been fortunate enough to be able to work with a lactation consultant who is also an NICU nurse. Last time we fed I got her to latch on both sides, YAY! She's eager, she just falls asleep on me a lot. ![]()
I already feel like she's been here forever and it's only been 15 hours. Amazing.
Re: Hey Hey!
Hey!!! So glad things are going great....I had a 2nd degree tare and I remember how much it stung and burned etc...so I am definitely thinking of you...
A little girl!!! How exciting!! Let the shopping begin lol...
I remember when Gianna use to fall asleep at the boob lol...but don't give up, she will get it, especially if she already successfully latched one! That is awesome!!
Can't wait to see more pics of her...try and get as much rest as you can!!!
Anderson was in the NICU also for almost the same reason. Not having him in the room with me was the hardest part. But I wasn't in the room much b/c of it which helped me recover faster I think.
Glad that it wasn't too bad. Take this time to catch up on some sleep! She is beautiful Morgan!
Hi Morgan! Congrats on your sweet little girl! I can't wait to see more pictures.
I had a 2nd degree tear and I feel your pain. The peri bottle they have you use in the hospital is the.best.thing.ever. Use it religiously. I think I used mine for the first 2 weeks.
That's awesome that you are able to feed on demand and that Quinn is latching. I remember when Kellen would fall asleep. I did everything I could to try and wake that little guy up---now I try to get him to fall asleep! Ha!
Again, congrats to you and Steve. Isn't it amazing how tiny she is but how much she changes your life in just one split second? Motherhood is the best thing ever and I am so excited for you to start your journey.
I tore when I gave birth to Rowen so I feel your pain. I highly recommend taking sitz baths! It helped me so much!
Hey chica!!!! I'm so happy to hear that you're doing well, & that Quinn is doing excellent as well. I hope she gets out of the NICU right on schedule to go home with you. I'm sure she will! I'm glad BFing is off to a good start. I still cannot believe that she is here already! I'm so excited that you had a girl--I can't wait for our daughters to meet!!!
P.S. What was it that you called me when we were on gchat the other day??? Wasn't is something like a "lucky biotch" since Baby G had dropped & I was showing signs of progress? Who's lucky now? Hmpfff.
I'm so happy for you! Of course I'm also quite jealous that you're going to be snuggling with your princess while I'm in full fledged b*tch mode impatiently waiting for my LO for these last few weeks!
Yay for Quinn taking to BFing so well! I hope she gets of of the NICU soon!
BTW, you're not 37 weeks, 2 days PG. YOU'RE A MOMMY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Too funny!
I swear that the mother's instinct is always correct- you KNEW you were having a girl (aside from guessing about the U/S). Enjoy every moment- soak it all in as best you can...she is precious!!!

Congratulations again Morgan, Quinn is adorable. Sorry to hear about the tear, hope it heals quickly. Like you said glad the only reason she is in the Nicu is more for precautionary measures. Oh the feeling of a baby resting on your chest and just snuggling, I miss those days in the hospital. Now my wiggle worm wont hold still for a minute.
Congrats again.
Congratulations!! She is so beautiful!
Sorry about the tear and not having her in the room...that sucks! But I'm glad things went pretty well. It's cool that you negotiated with them and are breastfeeding her on demand...way better than on their schedule.
