Dinosaur Safari anyone? Quick Ideas needed please

Okay, not your regular bottles and diapers post, but you ladies are creative so I know you can help!

Tomorrow is dinosaur day on Playhouse Disney.  My deal is if she is going to watch tv I have to somehow connect it to 'real life' and interact with her.  So I had this idea that I would take that theme and make a day out of it.  I found some coloring pages online and printed those out. We already have a dino themed book. I wanted to create a backyard safari - along the lines of an easter egg hunt - and look for plastic dinos in the yard. I'm thinking plastic shovels and pails, the dinos, maybe some binoculars and a play magnifying glass....

What else can I do/ add?  Again, this is tomorrow, so not much prep time.  Also, this is just a morning activity, becasue after nap time we are going to do 4th of July type stuff in the city.

TIA!!!

  • Sounds awesome!  I found this cute song:

    I'm a Mean Old Dinosaur
(Tune:  I'm a little Tea Pot)

     I'm a mean old Dinosaur
(Make a mean face, the kids make the cutest mean faces)
     Big and Tall
(Gesture hands big and tall )
Here is my tail, here is my claw.
(Gesture hands behind your back for tail and make claw hands)
     When I get all hungry
       (rub your tummy)
     I just growl
(have the kids exaggerate the grrroooowwwlll)
Look out kids I'm on the prowl.
(Here I tickle each one of their tummies and they all giggle)

  • Loading the player...
  • Maybe you could start off the day with a dinosaur breakfast?  Maybe dinosaur eggs and volcano juice? You could get a washable marker and put greene dots on the egg so when you are cooking it she really thinks it a dinosaur egg?

Sorry, that's all I got, but it sounds like a super fun morning!

  • I don't know if she eats oatmeal yet, but there is dinasaur egg oatmeal you could have for breakfast. There are also buckets of toy dinosaurs that you could let her free play with.
  • Oh, there is also this cute song, tiny dinosaurs, we love it. You could also use the dinosaurs and bury them in a sandbox to dig them up. Have fun ladies!
  • Oh those songs are so cute! thanks ladies!

Tracey- I can definitely do hard boiled eggs decorated for lunch - great idea!
