Trouble TTC

Insurance Issue - WW3TCD?

Ok, so I researched deep and found that our current insurance (through DH's co.) does not cover IF whatsoever.

I have my first RE appointment on the 13th of July, fresh out of being on lupron to treat my endometriosis. I still havent seen AF since getting off lupron on the 14th of June. Since most of the endo has disappeared (based on my u/s), I should have a better chance of getting pregnant.

My company just extended enrolment in their insurance plan and they cover IF. However it is costly like almost 10% of my total salary.

WWYD? I think I am gonna go for the insurance from my company.

  • Depending on your salary I would say go for the insurance.  I think any IF coverage is better than none. Were oop and that would be my opinion.

  • I agree. If you have to do treatments it will cost you way more than 10% every month.

  • Can you change it back later if you want to?  Honestly, I'd probably go for it either way, all the meds, u/s, and everything else adds up quickly.  Just make sure that the new coverage is good and worth the money.  If it's only going to cover a little of what you need it may not be worth it.

  • We currently have DH's insurance, which is free to us. However, there is no IF coverage, and even with Labor/Deliver there is a 20% copay after meeting the deductible .. so it's not that great.

We'll be enrolling in my insurance during the open season, for coverage starting January 1. It costs $186 per pay ... so $4836/year. DH's department will give him $2400 every December if he doesn't take their insurance ... so our OOP cost will be $2436 pretax. It covers Labor/Delivery and all related visits 100% (no copays or anything), and covers IF meds and diagnostics/monitoring, with regular medication copays. So it's a way better option for us. Even though that's money we're not currently spending, it's worth it in the long run, IMO.
