Babies on the Brain

So I'm reading "The Other Boleyn Girl".

I love this book, I'm about 2/3rds of the way through it.  Will I like the movie?

Re: So I'm reading "The Other Boleyn Girl".

  • I am slacker and always said I'd read the book first, but never did. I LOVED the movie, but I'm a sucker for Natalie Portman, I think she's amazing.
  • I tried to get into the book several years ago, before the movie came out, and I couldn't.  I haven't watched the movie because I'm still trying to hold out and read the book.

  • Hmm I dunno.  I didn't read the book so I don't know how much it adheres to the movie. I watched the movie, and it was intriguing.  There are some emotional moments with difficult pregnancies and miscarriage.

    If you have the time, I say definitely read it.  It's long, but is so good.

  • I read the book first and loved the book. I hated the movie. I thought they did a really poor job at super important moments and left out and changed some of the best parts.

    Those are also in the book.  Thanks for the warning, though.  No one warned me about "Up" and I was a wreck the entire movie.

    That's what I'm afraid of.

    ::sigh::

    I'm off to read in my nice clean room with my nice clean (lizard free) sheets.

  • BTW I'm so excited for you!  Happy and healthy 9months to you.  Your daughter's birth shares a special day in my heart.  Blessings to you and your family!

  • I love the book, the movie was okay. I wasn't a fan of the casting, although I like all the actors.

    I do recommend all of Phillipa Gregory's books though.  I really loved The Constant Princess, a very interesting take on Katherine of Aragon.

    You just made me cry.  Thank you.

  • I loved the book but haven't yet watched the movie.  Though I have learned in the past if the book reading happens a longtime before watching the movie sometimes you can still like the movie.  Maybe I will ilke it since I can barely remember all of the book. ;)

  • I loved that book too! The Boelyn Inhertience is fabulous too. The movie sucks, in my totally honest opinion. I was let down after watching it.

  • I loved the book and still really liked the movie.  It seemed like they cut about 90 percent of the book, but I still liked it.
