So I will be adding lovenox to my FET protocol because of my prothrombin mutation.
When do you usually start lovenox? Any tips with these injections?
Since I plan on getting a BFP, how long were you/ are you on it when you get pregnant?
Thanks cuties.
I will stick needles in every part of me if it means a sticky baby(ies).

Re: Lovenox users, come on in (saif/paif w)
I am starting Lovenox 5 days before I start any meds (this includes Provera for me) because the meds have a risk of blood clots. I am also going to stay on the baby aspirin that I take already. It may be different for you because I have had blood clots in the past.?
I was told I will be on it the entire pregnancy and 6-8 weeks after birth. After birth, a women is most at risk for clots.
I was on Lovenox while I was in the hospital until the Coumadin kicked in. The shots burn. They left giant black bruises on me. But like you, who cares!?!?
The High-Risk Board has a lot of women on Lovenox and sometimes I post questions there. They are all nice there.
GL!! Let me know if you need more insurance help. ?
I've been on lovenox since the day of transfer. I take it twice a day (prefilled syringes) and will continue till about 6 weeks after the baby is born.
I do mine into my love handles. They bruise something awful but the bruises don't usually hurt. Once your belly gets too big (no chub), you can move to your thighs.
I have to take Lovenox too. It's not bad but it does sting like a mutha. I iced the injection site first and for me just injecting like a gonal-f was better (some say to inject slowly but for me that just made it sting worse) Ice after too!
I was told if I ever get pg and stay pg that I will be on it for 4 weeks after birth. GL!
Oh I will start Lovenox and baby aspirin before I start my cycle this time too. Last time I didn't start it until after my BFP.
I started Lovenox when I started PIO.
I injected once/day same time every day. The needles are pretty thin and you do it sub-q. Grab your belly and inject. It will burn as you inject and for about 5 minutes after and you will bruise but whatever you do DO NOT rub it when it's burning even though you want to. Your bruises will be massive if you do that!
I was switched to a different blood thinner called Arixtra when I got my PE's. They think I got the PE's while on lovenox because they doubled my PIO to 1cc twice/day and we didn't adjust the lovenox. The plan was and still is that I will be on blood thinners the entire pregnancy and 2 months post-partum.
Good luck!
When do you usually start lovenox? Any tips with these injections? For this past FET my RE had me start Lovenox about a week before the transfer.
Lovenox does cause some brusing but I tried to minimize by injecting it slow and not rubbing or wiping the injection site after I am finished.

For my FETs I started Lovenox when I started estrogen, so cd3. (High levels of estrogen can cause clots.) Originally I was only on 1 shot/day but around 12w, I was switched to 2xs/day. The injections sting, but I find that injecting slower helps. Also, I'd suggest injecting in a well-lit room - if you can avoid blood vessels, etc you'll bruise less.
I'll be on some type of blood thinner until at least 8wks post partum. I'm on Lovenox now but I'm switching to Heparin next week. Originally, I was going to make the switch to Heparin around 34w but, after last weekend's drama, my OB and peri are altering the schedule. (Heparin leaves your system faster plus it can be reserved, unlike Lovenox.) After delivery, I'll probably be on Coumadin. It's a pill (thankfully!) plus it's ok if you're BFing.
