Northern California Babies

hello and baby shower question

Hey There!

I'm pretty new to this board. I may have posted one or two things here before.... I moved to the Bay Area a few years back.  DH and I hope to be pregnant in the next six months or so :-)   We love our little family as it is (a dog and a cat + us) and cannot wait to add a new member to it!!

May be some of you ladies can help me out here.....

I have a dear friend who is pregnant with baby no. 2.  She's due in late November.  Another good friend of ours and I recently talked about giving her a shower for the second baby.  We recalled her being a little uncomfortable about being the center of attention at her first shower.  She also has quite a few of the baby necessities.   We're trying to find something fun to do for her before the second baby is born; without doing a full on shower.  One idea was a no gifts brunch or brunch and a gift card that everyone contributed to.

Any other thoughts?

Thanks so much :-)

Re: hello and baby shower question

  • my friend had a bare neccetties baby sprinkle, so all her gifts were diapers, wipes, soaps, onesies.

If she doesn't like being the center of attention, a blessingway is probably not the way to go, but maybe if it's small and intimate?  I know lots of sort of shy moms who really loved theirs.

A mani/pedi day is always good.  Very pregnant moms are usually pretty happy to get a foot massage :)

  • My close friends did a brunch for my 2nd baby, and it was so sweet. They didn't do traditional games or gifts, we just had a morning to ourselves.  They did pool together and get a bedding set - but it was more than necessary, I was happy with just the girl time and brunch.
