Here is my dilemma. I really like the name Nicholas; however, I am not so much a fan of the nickname Nick. I just don't know that I will be able to stop people from shortening the name... especially when he starts school. Your thoughts are appreciated!

Re: Poll: Boy Names
Thanks. I did consider this as a possible nickname... I like it a lot more than Nick!! Sometimes I just wish there was no such thing as nicknames. LOL.
I have a Nicolas and everyone uses his full name. I realize he's still a little guy but so far I have not had issues with it. When he was a newborn a couple people asked me what he'll go by, Nicolas or Nick, and they have respected my request to use his full name.
Go for the name that you really like.
This Evan Williams is a whiskey so go with Nicholas and keep firm about not letting anyone call him Nick and if someone does just simply say "Nicholas" people will eventually get it!

I love the name Nicholas! It is my brother's name or it would have been on our list.
Evan is nice too, and the only reason that one didn't make our list is because DH is Kevin, and I thought they were way too similar.
I would choose Nicholas over Evan though.

I like Evan the best.
Just a quick aside: my name is Catherine, and my mom was determined that it would not be shortened. I'm now an adult and have never gone by anything but Catherine.
Leading to: If you're really into Nicholas, name him Nicholas and push Nicholas onto the relatives. If he likes Nick, though, there's not much you can do about that.
