Pre-conception post preemie appt- w/ MFM??

Hi ladies,

H and I aren't convinced we want another child, but if we did it wouldn't be for a few years still. We agree that it would be best for me to talk to somebody now to see what our chances of pPROM again are so that we can take some time to weigh the pros/cons, and possibly think about adoption if the odds are against us, since it generally takes some time. I used MWs for DD, and never saw an OB (although they continuously consulted with an OB group they work with when I pPROMed and throughout my hospital stay/induction). Is this something I discuss with an MFM specialist, or my MWs? I know I can call my MWs, but I worry that they might have me come in, which would take a while to schedule as they are overly-busy, and then tell me to schedule with a specialist, and we this discussion wouldn't happen for months. Thoughts or experiences? Thanks!

I don't have any experience with MW's but loved the MFM I got when hospitalized and plan to meet with her prior to ttc again.

I would definitely see a MFM to see what your chances are for having another preemie. I know when I got KO'ed with number 2 I immediately sought out a doctor who specialized in high risk pregnancies. I was monitored closely through out my second pregnancy ( I had pre-e) and we were able to get me to 35 weeks 2 days with DS. GL!
