i'm going for my first appt tomorrow. my accupuncturist told me to give it a shot since i have a tilted uterus. she said that's prob not the cause of my issues, but it certainly could help.
I found it to be great! Be prepared for some massaging in some areas that other masseuses do not tread - like, right down to your pubic bone. A good therapist will talk you through what they are doing so that you won't feel uncomfortable.
If you want to see progress from the massages, it's important that you do the home self-care they recommend.
Married 08.06 Started TTC 05.08 Me: Stage II endo, borderline high FSH DH: perfect 1 lap, 5 IUIs = 4 BFNs and 1 c/p 2 IVFs, 2 FETs = 1 BFN, 1 c/p, 1 ectopic and finally a sticky BFP in May 2011!
I had this done in Mexico - so unfortunately didn't have the ability to understand what the masseuse was explaining - it was pretty amazing though (I have tilted uterus too) - and I would love to find someone licensed/trained here to do it.
Be prepared for very bizarre feelings as the massage is very deep into your stomach/pelvic area.
m/c#1 07/16/08 (11 weeks), m/c#2 10/10/08 (8 weeks).
and then nothing since except every test possible (no answers).
IUI#1 and #2: BFNs
Super lucky to be buddies with Peetie.
Our out of nowhere, surprise DD born 5/29/2011
I went for a session or 2 and my LMT though she felt a bit of scar tissue in my ute. She was right - there was some! After having the scarring removed, I went monthly for about 2 months prior to our last FET. While I don't think it was the sole reason for success after nearly 4 years, I absolutely think it helped. It might sound corny, but I think it balanced my uterus and made it a more hospitable place.
As the others said, be aware that your LMT will have their hands on your pubic bone. Obviously, it's weird but I was really comfortable with the practioner I found so I wasn't too weirded out by it. Definitely make sure you're aware of and comfortable with at-home self care. It's quick and easy. Also, remember not to go to a session or do the self care around your period. I was told that I should hold off a few days before my expected period (or when my cramps started) and not resume until all bleeding/spotting stopped.
Wow, I can't believe you posted this because I just got back from my 1st one today! I had a 90-minute therapy session, the first hour we spent talking and going through all of my medical history and eating habits, etc. Then she did the massage and taught me some self massage techniques. I will be going back again next week for a full massage. She was really great, and I hope this will work for us!
